WELCOME TO THE TOWNSHIP OF SPRINGWATER
According to Statistics Canada census figures released on March 13, 2007, the Township of Springwater is the fifth-largest municipality in Simcoe County.
The population of Springwater currently sits at 17,457 -- an 8.4 percent increase over the past five years. Historical population figures for the Township of Springwater are as follows:
2006 Census - 17,456 (+8.4% since 2001)
2001 Census - 16,104 (+ 8.9% since 1996)
1996 Census - 14,793 (+12.3% since 1991)
1991 Census - 13,173
The Simcoe Area Growth Plan is a process being led by the County of Simcoe with the involvement of its member municipalities and other municipal partners in the Simcoe area, the City of Orillia and the City of Barrie. With the anticipated growth for this region, the Province of Ontario has encouraged all municipalities to work together to build a local solution to the challenges that growth will bring.
